The proposed presentation will consider brief information about life in Pamir/Badakhshan of Tajikistan. It depicts the tradition, culture, livelihood, and challenges of rural communities. The presentation focuses on the high dependency of local communities on their surroundings. Also, the way people use all the gifts of the environment through their traditional and indigenous knowledge. Moreover, I would like to bring a few examples of local plant usage in the area. In the end, I would also like to talk about my ongoing cooperation with BG-PAS concerning ethnobotanical research in the Ishkashim region.
